In response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, HFAP initially paused onsite survey activity from Mid-March through April. On April 15, the decision was made to extend the moratorium through May.
On May 15, a decision will be made about resuming surveys in June. We will move forward month-by-month until it becomes reasonable to conduct on-site surveys without overburdening organizations while remaining compliant with relevant shelter-in-place orders and protecting the health of provider staff and our surveyors.
The HFAP office staff remains active; our ongoing concern is to remain a valued resource to you – especially for infection control and emergency management issues. Do not hesitate to email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
For organizations that have submitted applications or plan to soon, there will be an opportunity to revise black-out days after your account manager reaches out to confirm your “survey window.” At that time, we will also be providing a brief worksheet to complete and subsequently update and resubmit on a weekly basis. Your responses will help us assess your capacity to support an onsite survey event based on the presence and prevalence of COVID-19 in your community and in your facility.
If it is not possible for HFAP to complete a survey before your accreditation is due to expire, provisions have been made to seamlessly maintain your organization’s accreditation or certification status–including your Medicare deemed status–until survey activity can be resumed.
